Sammaneh ‘Shampoo’ Poursh is a queer Iranian-born Muslim who arrived in Australia as a refugee. She is an educator, poet, comedian, performer and visual artist who has appeared at the Big Day Out, Sounds From the Other City (UK), Manchester Contemporary Art Fair, Sluice Art Fair London, Pact Theatre (Sydney) and been shortlisted for the Overland Fair Work Australia Poetry Prize. Shampoo’s work explores identity, ritual, the Body, diaspora, Middle Eastern and Western histories, surrealism, and comedy as a way to address trauma. She is currently developing a stand up comedy show called Like a Persian and producing hand-poked tattoos.
