The Emerging Writers’ Festival is committed to making EWF20 an accessible and welcoming experience for all. There is some information below about how to access our digital events and happenings.

CAPTIONING AND TRANSCRIPTS

Our free live streamed events will be captioned following the event, and archived on our YouTube channel and the respective event pages on the EWF website. For live captions, you may like to use a third party assistive technology mobile app such as Google Live Transcribe.

Transcripts for audio projects will be published alongside the episode audio on the EWF website.

PLATFORMS

ZOOM

Ticketed performances, workshops and a stream of the National Writers’ Conference will be hosted on Zoom. Zoom is compatible with screen readers, and also offers high contrast settings and Dark Mode for people with visual impairments.

Unfortunately, live captioning technology isn’t yet available for Zoom. You may like to use a third party assistive technology mobile app such as Google Live Transcribe, when using Zoom.

GOTOWEBINAR

One stream of the National Writers’ Conference will be hosted on GoToWebinar, which offers high-contrast mode and dark mode for users with vision impairment.

Unfortunately, live captioning technology isn’t yet available for GoToWebinar. You may like to use a third party assistive technology mobile app such as Google Live Transcribe, when using GoToWebinar.

GOOGLE HANGOUTS

The National Writers’ Conference Pitch It! sessions will be conducted through Google Hangouts, which has a live closed caption feature and chat function. It is also has a built-in screen reader function, full page zoom and high-contrast colour features.
