Melanie Saward is a PhD candidate at the Queensland University of Technology and a proud descendant of the Wakka Wakka and Bigambul peoples. She holds a Master of Fine Arts (Research) a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and a Graduate Certificate in Writing, Editing, and Publishing. She works at the Carumba Institute at QUT. Melanie’s fiction, essays, and poetry have appeared in Kill Your Darlings, Overland, Verity La, and Concrescence, and she’s had manuscripts shortlisted for the Boundless Indigenous Writer’s Mentorship, the Harlequin First Nations Fellowship, and the David Unaipon Award.
