Manjula is a Psychiatrist. Her primary area of interest is family violence, mental health. She advocates against family violence in immigrant communities. Manjula led the anti-dowry campaign of Australia that successfully culminated in inclusion of laws against dowry abuse in the Victorian Family Violence Protection Act and Senate Enquiry Recommendation dowry abuse to be included in Family Law Act. Manjula has appeared in the media over 90 times and her work has been cited in the Parliament of Victoria and the Federal Australian Parliament. Recently she has written about her Australian-Indian journey and her professional experiences .
