Kōtare (fka DJ Sezzo) is a proud Ngāpuhi woman, DJ, writer and curator. She explores the Māori-Australian experience through her artist collective “Ngāti Kangaru”, and writes theories about the relationship between marginalisation and the magic of the club, inspiring her to begin the experimental-art-club-night “Precog”. Since Kōtare began DJing in 2013, she has played Dark Mofo, MONA FOMA, Next Wave Festival, GoMA, Mardi Gras, MCA, IMA, Firstdraft, Carriageworks, Falls Festival, and has supported Moor Mother & Black Quantum Futurism, Klein, Le1f, Cher, Coolio and Charli XCX (to name a few). Kōtare lives and works in Naarm/Melbourne.
