EWF19 ambassador announcement

Five celebrated Australian writers will headline the National Writers’ Conference on 22–23 June as part of the 2019 Emerging Writers’ Festival.

The 2019 ambassadors are The Australian/Vogel’s Literary Award winner Katherine Brabon, Miles Franklin long-listed novelist Toni Jordan, bestselling romance writer Charlotte Nash, award-winning author Maria Tumarkin and award-winning poet and essayist Alison Whittaker.

This year’s award-winning festival ambassadors are known for their ability to write with exceptional emotional honesty. Achieving both literary and commercial success, they are at the height of their careers – ready to mentor the next generation of Australian writers.

“Our ambassadors represent some Australia’s best writing talent. By sharing previously untold stories and pushing boundaries in their craft, these women are paving the way for emerging writers. We’re honoured to have them part of this year’s festival.” says Emerging Writers’ Festival (EWF) Artistic Director Izzy Roberts-Orr.

EWF supports the growth of Australia’s literary industry by equipping emerging writers with the skills to embark on successful careers. This year’s ambassadors will share their knowledge with Australia’s up-and-coming talent during the National Writers’ Conference at the State Library of Victoria, joining over 70 other artists across two days of panels, discussions, workshops and networking at the largest gathering of emerging writers in Australia. Each ambassador will spend an hour answering questions and offering advice in EWF’s unique Ask Me Anything sessions.

The full program will be launched at the Wheeler Centre and online on Wednesday 15 May, 2019.

The National Writers’ Conference is held at the State Library of Victoria from Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 June.

Early Bird tickets, Golden Tickets, and select events (2222 and Ways of Listening) are on sale now. Book early to avoid disappointment.
